Message-ID: <markv.716667764@pixar> Date: 16 Sep 92 18:22:44 GMT Sender: news@pixar.com (Usenet Newsmaster) Organization: Pixar -- Point Richmond, California Lines: 18 Nntp-Posting-Host: taz.pixar.com I recently installed the "cgd" bootable of 386BSD on an Everex 486si box. After jumpering my 3COM503 board to use $D800 as its memory address and port 250 as its I/O, I hooked up a thin net and fired it up. It works, but just barely... In transferring over the binary distribution, it averaged ~1K second, which is truly and completely pathetic. Rlogin and telnet are out of the question, they halt for 15 seconds at a time while resending packets. Ping tells me that it is dropping ~65% of all packets. Questions: 1) Is this a known bug? 2) Should I be using a thick net connector instead? 3) Is there something else to be done? Email me, or post and let us all in. Mark T.
