So are there plans to settle down to a new release? Any dates? I'm
getting impatient to put all the new features into several machines
that I don't want to run a non-release OS on.

There's always NetBSD-current. :-)

Seriously, I kinda gave up on NetBSD being an end-user engineered
system.

FreeBSD does a good job at bringing out nicely packaged releases at
nicely spaced intervals. They have a nice system engineered for the
end-user, or "consumer".

I now look at NetBSD as a project constantly in progress, with widely
spaced steps (releases) where you can catch your breath and bring new
machines in. Many of the people who use NetBSD seem to be in constant
development mode. It's kind-of a participation thing. :-)

This is not a statement of opinion or policy of the NetBSD core group
-- these are my impressions.
