Well, IMHO, another incentive for buying direct would be that the profits are going to WC, which supports FreeBSD. The distributors don't care if FreeBSD is updated/improved, they just care that _you_ are buying the CD. Perhaps I'm wrong about this, but hey I would much rather pay $38.95 for the FreeBSD CD, than $89.95 for the Win95 upgrade! I'll admit I haven't bought it yet personally (I use NetBSD), but I have recommended the FreeBSD CD to friends, and "suggested" they should get it direct. But... by all means buy it at $12 rather than not at all. >Next time, don't be lazy and shop around for the best price, it's not >a publishers job to tell you where to get it. Right, but it _is_ their job to put something on the disk, where the distributor just sells it. Just my $.02. -Andrew -- ============================ Real 32bit multi-tasking UN*X System Andrew Gillham | TCP/IP,NFS,PPP,4.4BSD-lite,multi-user gillham@andrews.edu | i386,sparc,alpha,mac68k,amiga,others LAN/WAN/NW/UN*X specialist | ---> http://www.NetBSD.org <---
