ok this is driving me batty... I do a straightforward install to the
first and only scsi disk (id 0) on an adaptec 1542cp. It partitions ok..
it installs ok.. post install config goes ok but when I try to boot the
new system I get the following:
-----------------------
aha0: Unknown board-VD.0
aha0: reading board settings, dma=5 int=11 (bus speed defaulted)
aha0: aha_cmd, cmd/data port full
aha0 at 0x330-0x333 irq 11 drq 5 on isa
aha0 waiting for scsi devices to settle
[note running "install" from fbsd install disk acts the same up to here]
(aha0:0:0): timed out
adapter not taking commands.. frozen?!
Debugger("aha1542") called.

(aha0:0:0): timed out
adapter not taking commands.. frozen?!
Debugger("aha1542")called.
 AGAIN
aha0: MBO 02 and not 00 (free)
--------------------------------------------
DEC Venturis dx4, 16MB Memory
Adaptec 1542CP
Seagate ST31230N (1010 MB)
Walnut Creek FreeBSD 2.0.5

I've installed about 8 times.. root is on first partition.. tried different
irqs.. different BIOS address on scsi ctlr.. flashed the system bios with a
non "plug and play" bios.. moved the card to a different slot.. read the
HARDWARE and TROUBLES and the FAQ.

Linux installs on the same box just fine. Any help or suggestions would be
very welcome before I give up and load linux... I'd rather run freebsd on it.
