Now, I could only get top to make sense...  The Linux variant is much nicer and
makes sense even to a novice like me, saying:

Mem:  31260K av, 19000K used, 12260K free,  7672K shrd,  7352K buff
Swap: 66556K av,   104K used, 66452K free

whereas the bsdi top  gives me:

Memory: Real: 304K/6716K Virt: 1560K/113M Free: 4944K

and "man top" doesn't explain it either
