The generic kernel on my boot disk works well with the hard disk drive but with the CD-ROM i've got a problem. I have very similar setup - except that i have 2 such disks and CDU55E. Looks like controller is EIDE since sony is connected to same card as HDs. But even with -current FreeBSD doesn't recognize cdrom. I played with settings on cdrom to make it master, slave, csel and looks like under dos it needs to be master to work at all. Is controller dual-channel IDE perhaps? Maybe connecting cdrom to same cable as hd would work, but dunno if freebsd would work with other disk on separate cable. Any clues? Has anybody a solution for using a SONY CDU55D CD-ROM with FreeBSD 2.0.5. ? Yes, get freebsd-current. Supposedly it works OK in such setup. Tomaz
