I don't know of any pure ISA card : : which can support Wide HD. The VLB 28xx from Adaptec can. The Wide version : : for Buslogic is the BT757. Have a look at <URL:http://www.buslogic.com/>. : : : Actually, I recommended the 946C (narrow) and the 956 (wide). I only : mentioned the 445 when you said that you were thinking of using : 486/VLB boxes. The 946/956 are PCI cards. Yes,I'm using 486 VLB boxes.I've decided to ditch the 9GB drive, though, since few SCSI cards handle drives over 8GB these days, and Buslogic says they will update their PCI and probably not their VLB firmware.(I guess the AMD 133MHz 486[which will be a clock-quadrupled 33 MHz] will be able to support PCI,but I'm sticking with the 120). You said you stuck news on three drives,alt,non-alt,and log-file...how much space does log-file take?I'm still going for a BIG news spool,I figure it may attract paying Telnetters from places with smaller ones. : You should probably do a lot more research into these things before : you plunk down your hard-earned cash and attempt ISP-hood. There are : a lot of gotchas. I'm going to be doing a bit of "interning" with Drew while my parts fall into place...I'm not offering service until what needs to be ready is ready.
