I was explained there is a : problem with motherboard chip-set (yours must be from Intell too). I too have a WD0813EP, and I had the same problem when I started the installation. I solved it by disable all devices that used the same address space/irq as my card and all devices I *knew* I didn't have. I also set the iomem and irq values to the ones of my card. After that my card worked like a dream. The driver for WD-cards doesn't auto-probe any values (if I understood the documentation right), so you either have to configure the card to use the kernel default values or change the kernel default values at boot time.
