ed, if it's an SGI/IRIX, you have a name racing condition where the mail
is looping on the DNS lookups.  it usually happens when the box in't configured
to use a forwarder or mail relay properly.

on sgi's using an auto sendmail.cf, you need to look at sendmail.params
for the info/settings. also see the man page for configmail
