Lines: 17 Message-ID: <448ood$36f@comet2.magicnet.net> NNTP-Posting-Host: pm5-24.magicnet.net X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.92.6+ I have FreeBSD 2.0.5 and I have been fighting and fussing with it for a couple of weeks now I have posted messages to ask for help getting this system configured to run with dial in connections so that I could access the FreeBSD system with things like Trumpet Winsock. So far the only thing that I have working are terminal logins from both the dial-in on the modem and from TCP/IP over the ethernet link. I have resolved basically the user access and execution to things like games programs after figuring out the paths trick. What I have not figured out is how to make sliplogins work without error and drop-outs. It simply does not work like the examples. I must be missing something important here since after checking the "netstat -i " I show that the SLIP system is disabled by default and dont know where to turn it on. Also, I have read that FreeBSD only supports 2-Slip connections. How can that be? If a person wants to set up a WWW server using dial-in lines than if not using slip or ppp connection then what are they using? I dont have the money to buy a portmaster or special equipment at this point and just need some simple help figuring out why I am limited to terminal sessions, Or is this what I really want and only need? I was told be one person ( a large NET ) that that's all they used were Terminal sessions, But I have not figured that one out since when I try to use the standard Trumpet Winsock scripts The unix box shows a failure and hangs the line until I drop carrier. The game is afoot... David Hartley
