Can Linux and FreeBSD share a user partition (e.g. not a >root or swap partition) ? If so, what would be the best filesystem type to >implement this (e.g. mpunt a Linux partition from FreeBSD or a FreeBSD >partition from Linux) ? Are there any performance problems in doing this ? As of the time of writing, there are no shared filesystems other than DOS and CDROM (well, nfs too I guess) but thay aren't very useful.. John Dyson has the linux filesystem running under freeBSD, and as soon as he checks it in I'm pretty sure it's going to get a solid testing by lots of people :) There have also been reports of FFS being ported to linux, but I have no information on this, and haven't heard anything for a while.. (maybe linus has done it as part of his DEC-alpha/OSF1 port) until he does however, FreeBSD and Linux are in separate universes (he's very close though, Or so I'm told ) julian +----------------------------------+ ______ _ __ | __--_|\ Julian Elischer | \ U \/ / On assignment | / \ julian@tfs.com +------>x USA \ in a very strange | ( OZ ) 300 lakeside Dr. oakland CA. \___ ___ | country ! +- X_.---._/ USA+(510) 645-3137(wk) \_/ \\ v
