If it's BSDI 2.0 then they are more alike then they're different.  They're
both based on bsd 4.4lite.

BSDI charges a lot more for user licences suitable for ISP use.

You probably don't want to do this.  It would be a major pain in the
ass.  Just intall FreeBSD 2.0.5R or one of the latest snap releases.  
They're quite stable.

Also, if you have to support the users on the machines, you're
probably much better off just buying machines with NO operating
system and install what you want from scratch.  At least then you
know what you've got.
