I have been trying to compile some programs, and after awhile I get
'virtual memory exhausted'. I have tried ulimit -d 16000
and ulimit -d 32768 thinking that gave me more. Under both tries,
the system eventually died.

the system otherwise works great. How do I config more virtual memory
for these compiles?--
