Huh? Where did this noise come from? Many of the programs used by both the FreeBSD development team and as part of the OS use perl. Perl is *heavily* used in FreeBSD, so any statements you are making must be w/out any factual information. That being said, I'll echo what John Dyson already said. The perl that is in FreeBSD 2.1 will be version 4.036. It is solid and doesn't include any unknown idio-syncracies, which many versions of perl 5 until 5.001m did. And, with 5.002 coming down the pipe soon, I'm glad we haven't imported it. :) Bringing in a new version into the tree involves a little bit more than 'building the new one an removing the old one'.
