I understand that FreeBSD does not yet support the new Travan technology; however, the drive is 100% compatible with the old QIC-80 (DC2120 tapes) and therefore SHOULD work without a hitch using a DC2120... Has anyone else tried to get the T1000 (or any equivalent) tape drive to work under FreeBSD using either the TR-1 or the DC2120 tapes? So far I have made minor modifications to ft.c so that FreeBSD will detect my tape drive. My current struggle is that I am receiving timeout errors under certain tape operations under both Win95 and FreeBSD. I am currently working with HP Technical Support to solve this problem. My theory is that once the timeout errors are gone, I will be able to use DC2120 tapes in the drive under FreeBSD. Right now I am fishing for info. Any information you may have to assist me in trying to get the tape drive operational would be greatly appreciated. BTW- This is a very stupid question, but where is the source code for the ft(8) executable? Not having this source is proving to cause some minor problems in troubleshooting. Also, I would appreciate it if you can reply by e-mail as I can't always get around to reading the news... :-( Thanks -- Joe Diehl <joed@ksu.ksu.edu> Engineering Computing Center Kansas State University
