I also tried to load FreeBSD after switching the disk
controller to an Adaptec 1542CF. It still doesn't work
so I would assume that the "problem" is the 4 gig
Barracuda. However, a friend brought over BSDI 2.0.1
boot disks and things worked just fine.

Does anyone know how to get around this problem or
do we have to use BSDI?

Regards,

Chris
