Well, here's my proposition... an intermediate between the three and
seven.

comp.os.386bsd.general -- general discussion
comp.os.386bsd.HELP -- to solve the newbie problem, as discussed
comp.os.386bsd.tech * -- implementation, kernel, sharedlib, etc.
comp.os.386bsd.bugs * -- bug reports
comp.os.386bsd.announce * -- new versions, ports, ...
* = possibly moderated
Elaborated examples:
general:
-has anyone ported ___ to 386bsd, I'm intending to
-issues about conferences, meetings, newsletters etc
-general discussion about guidelines, future developments, etc
FAQ: software available, distribution, what's 386bsd, ...
HELP:
-why doesn't my system boot?
-where can I get 386bsd?
-can't get login working
FAQ: the most usual bugs, by version, where to get patches, the
usual problems, etc. etc.
tech:
-everything that's uninteresting to an end-user but wildly
fascinating for the real 386bsd hacker. All technical discussion
should go here.
FAQ: probably not necessary
bugs:
-when the problem appears to be more than YOU doing something wrong
i.e. a real bug. This group might be moderated, so that the
unwanted articles could be redirected to HELP.
-patches discussed here, and the most convincing ones should be
selected by someone for .announce
FAQ: the latest bugs found per version, patches etc.
announce:
-patches but only ONE PER PROBLEM
-try to keep number of individuals posting to a minimum so that by
following only this group, an end-user might feel safe and happy.
-new versions
FAQ: not necessary
How's this feel? It's just my personal opinion, if you don't like it
then fine. Just thought to add my 0.09 mk's worth ($0.02)
