Even with this, you still need software (scripts, whatever) to do the tape change. A few stackers can operate in a mode where they do the tape change when the drive hits PEOT. autoloaders typically can pick any tape in the loader, so of course you need to be able to tell the loader which tape. Programs like networker often have this kind of support builtin. There are some public domain stacker controller programs floating around, but you need a lot more than that.
