Nntp-Posting-Host: orion.oac.uci.edu Message-ID: <2ABBE850.6179@news.service.uci.edu> Summary: will the interrupts conflict? Newsgroups: comp.unix.bsd Organization: University of California, Irvine Keywords: SCSI RLL ST506 disk interrupt Lines: 16 Date: 20 Sep 92 02:56:16 GMT 386bsd seems not to like my rommmate's st506 (ultrastor) controller, and I don't want to disable the machine for dos and windows use. Would it be reasonable to install an adaptec 1542b connected to a quantum Prodrive 105S (removed from a Macintosh) as an alternate boot drive? Presumably FDISK could be used to mark the partition to be booted. I've been offered a 1542b (card only) for $316; is the price reasonable, and do I need to be wary of revision numbers on the chips? thanks for reading! bob prohaska
