FreeBSD-1.0 ??? That was so long ago ... Or are you talking about FreeBSD-1.1.5.1 ?? This should in fact work reliable with the NCR ! |> FreeBSD pre-release 2.1 (the second SNAP -- I forget the designation) blows up |> during installation and can't get to first base. I don't install the SNAPs, sinc I always compile the World from sources ... But there is no reason that the 2.1 SNAPs should not work with your hardware ! What kind of failure do you observe ? (Send as much error messages or other information as possible.) |> Linux and DOS (and Windows 3.1 in 386 Enhanced mode) all work fine, but with |> lower hard drive transfer rates than FreeBSD 2.0 (around 2 MB/sec for Linux, a |> little higher for DOS, who knows or cares what for Windows 3.1). Hmm, this might point at a problem with your SCSI cable or terminators ... Do you know you can trust them ? If you send further information, then I'll try to get you going with 2.1 ... I do a lot of compiles and (as I said above) rebuild the complete FreeBSD-current from sources every other night on my SP3G. If things got unreliable, I'd know the other day :) Regards, STefan -- Stefan Esser, Zentrum fuer Paralleles Rechnen Tel: +49 221 4706021 Universitaet zu Koeln, Weyertal 80, 50931 Koeln FAX: +49 221 4705160 ============================================================================== http://www.zpr.uni-koeln.de/staff/esser/esser.html <se@ZPR.Uni-Koeln.DE>
