I'm wondering if anyone can help me set up SNMP on my FreeBSD 2.0.5 (and hopefully soon to be 2.1) box. I've picked the CMU-SNMP stuff from the FreeBSD archive, but aparently don't know enough about snmp to get it running. What I need short term is to get a simple agent up on the machine so that I can monitor it from an SNMP manager that I'm trying out. Secondly, it'd be nice if I could set up a FreeBSD machine to act as the manager, as I'd eventually like it to be able to actually do the monitoring. In case this jogs anyone's efforts, I'm doing this as a possible tool for a Motorola network center (currently unofficially, but if it works, I'm going to try to introduce it). Also, if anyone can point me at any good, practical (ie - something along the O'reily guides) guides to SNMP, I'd appreciate it. -Brian
