It's somewhere in the FAQ.  You need to start a getty on it, and
setup a user entry for /usr/sbin/pppd.

Make sure you don't assign both sio0 (COM1) and sio2 (COM3) to IRQ 4.
The default configuration for sio2 is therefore *not* using IRQ 4.
You can rebuild a kernel, or re-configure your driver by booting with
option `-c'.
