I had the same problem and fixed it by booting from the diskettes,
and running disksetup -i (for some reason disksetup -B wd0 didn't
work for me).  I skipped the first set of questions until I hit
something like "install new MBR [no]?" where you say yes.  From
there, I think I accepted the defaults for each question... worked
for me...
