On my other FreeBSD machine this works fine. Also with a 'mv' command, same result. When I try to mv or cp another (new) login over the old one, I get the same result. When I try to cp /usr/bin/login to another file it says 'Operation not permitted'. All these things both in single user mode and multi user mode. They do work on the other FreeBSD machine. I have run fsck, but there's nothing wrong with the disk, besides, everything works fine, I just want to replace the damn file without having to initialise the entire partition. Any suggestions ? I'm also having problems installing FreeBSD 2.0.5 on a Compaq ProSignia VS. It has a built-in NCR SCSI controller, on the chip it says 53C710. I know the 53C801 is supported, and the 53C710 isn't listed, does that imply it won't work, or are they compatible enough so it will work ? Does anyone know what type Ethernet card it has built in as well ? Will that work ? Thanks in advance, - Rob. -- /*--------------------------------------------------------------*\ /* Rob Simons | rob@simplex.nl *\ /* ------------ | ------------- | -------- | ------- *\ /* Novell Netware System Operator | UNIX system operator *\ /*--------------------------------------------------------------*\
