Grab the eBones distribution.  DES encryption is in there, eBones/des.
Build and install that.  Link libcrypt to libdescrypt.

lrwxr-xr-x  1 bin   bin     18 Oct 17 17:55 /usr/lib/libcrypt.so.2.0 -> libdescrypt.so.2.0

If you just want the library let me know and I will put it up for
ftp.
