A few weeks ago, I noticed that my man pages were suddenly not available for some reason. Here is an example: {7} % man grep man: no entry for grep in the manual. So I checked my .login file and .cshrc file to see if there was something missing or messed. Here is the setenv line from .login: setenv MANPATH /man:/usr/man:/usr/local/man On this system, there are no /man or /usr/man directories. In the /usr/local/man (which does exist) there are a bunch of directories named cat1 through cat8 and man8, but they are mostly empty. Where did the stuff go? I *know* it was there a month ago. I used it! Assuming that it has vanished from the system somehow, how can I rebuild it? I am (allegedly) the system admin of the subject system and have root and all that, but I do not think I have mis-stepped myself to cause such a bad scene. Any ideas?
