Recently I upgraded there the latest 2.1 snapshot, but it wouldn't see my modem. I then tried 2.0.5-RELEASE and it wouldn't see it either. I have now tried it with that and other modems on several different brands and configurations of computers. I've essentially narrowed it down to the Zoom VFP 28.8 internal modem (V.FC). I only have two other serial ports, but I really need both of them, and they are 16450s so I can't really use my external PPI 28.8 V.34 at full speed even if I do free up one of my ports. What concerns me is that FreeBSD used to recognize my modem, and now doesn't. What has changed, and would it be possible, if necessary, to revert back to the old 16550 code so that my modem will work, at least until I can get more serial ports? Also, if I do get new 16550 serial ports, is there any way I can be sure that FreeBSD will see them any better than it sees my modem? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. --------------------------------------------------------------- Marcus I. Ryan |*The joy of engineering is finding a Asst.
