Their README.nfs file on : their ftp site seems to say they are nfs mountable or has that changed? : Cheers, : -Vince- vince@COSC.GOV - GUS Mailing Lists Admin - http://www.COSC.GOV/~vince Uh... I hate to burst all your bubbles, but gatekeeper does too run a portmapper, and they do too export their filesystems via NFS: [/homes/rwpaul]:atlantis{33}# rpcinfo -p gatekeeper.dec.com program vers proto port 100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper 100000 2 udp 111 portmapper 100005 1 udp 1036 mountd 100005 3 udp 1036 mountd 100005 1 tcp 904 mountd 100005 3 tcp 904 mountd 100003 2 udp 2049 nfs 100003 3 udp 2049 nfs 390113 1 tcp 7937 [/homes/rwpaul]:atlantis{34}# mount gatekeeper.dec.com:/archive /mnt [/homes/rwpaul]:atlantis{35}# ls /mnt 00README-Legal-Rules-Regs contrib GATEWAY.DOC dev GATEWAY.DOC;1 etc GATEWAY.PS gatekeeper.home.html Index-byname gateway.doc Index-byname.Z gateway.ps Index-bytime home.html Index-bytime.Z hypertext README.ftp index.html README.nfs lost+found README.www private US-Legal-Regs-ITAR-NOTICE pub archive quota.group archive.doc quota.user bin rom [/homes/rwpaul]:atlantis{36}# umount /mnt [/homes/rwpaul]:atlantis{37}# So you guys must be doing something wrong. :) Note that gatekeeper's README.nfs says this: NFS access to the archive has been restored on a provisional basis. So it might have been taken down at one point, but it's running now. I haven't tried it in many months so I never really noticed. Last time I did try, I did over a 14.4K SLIP link on my machine at home. I didn't leave it mounted for very long. :) -Bill -- ============================================================================= -Bill Paul (212) 854-6020 | System Manager Work: wpaul@ctr.columbia.edu | Center for Telecommunications Research Home: wpaul@skynet.ctr.columbia.edu | Columbia University, New York City ============================================================================= License error: The license for this .sig file has expired.
