I have been successful at getting cnews to run as well. (Replacing
/bin/sh with bash.)

I did spend a bit of effort in the sh sources to figure out what was
going wrong in /bin/sh - it has to do with how a backquoted command
line is built up for execution by a sub-shell. I have no fixes for the
problem.

I didn't have the make depend problem reported here.

As well, I'm using a rather dated version of the sources, from about
June 1991.

One problem I'm having is that some of the awk scripts, particularly
the one in spacefor print out floating point values instead of integers,
eventually causeing 'test' to complain about a non-integer being
used in -gt or -lt, etc...

I've tracked this down to a problem with the math emulator (I had to
pull out my ULSI math coprocessor.) Apparently, there is some problem
with the ceil/floor functions in the library. I'm investigating now.

The upshot of all of this is that I have been running a Cnews setup,
with rn recieving a small test-feed for about 4 days now. I'll report
if I discover any other problems.
