Date: Fri, 17 Nov 95 13:15:36 GMT Organization: Old Dominion University Lines: 24 Message-ID: <48i202$q1t@maui.cc.odu.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: bosco101.cc.odu.edu Summary: I can't seem to make my ATAPI cd-rom drive work when it's on the 2nd IDE controller. Is it possible? Keywords: IDE CD-ROM controller ATAPI X-Newsreader: News Xpress Version 1.0 Beta #4 Hi, I've got a 2.1.0-951026-SNAP system, and I re-built the kernel to accomodate an ATAPI cd-rom drive. However, the system won't recogize it. The cd-rom is on the 2nd IDE controller, because there are 2 HDs on the first controller. I think this must be what's affecting it, because I setup another system where the cd-rom was on the primary IDE controller, and it worked great. How, if it all, can I make this work? If ATAPI cd-roms are only supported on the first controller, I suppose I can move the 2nd disk to the 2nd controller, since that is supported. That will leave room to attach the cd-rom to the primary controller. any pointers?
