Disable caches was ineffective. However, my VLB IDE controller has an option. Normal, Fast or Turbo mode. Normal uses system BIOS, Fast and Turbo use on board BIOS either from ROM or same code loaded in RAM. On board BIOS uses read-multiple and write-multiple VLB-IO instructions. Diabled that option.
