I am running BSDI v 2.0.1 an am experiencing occasional complete lockups.
Twice it has been in the early morning while the unit was receiving a remote
backup from another computer and once it has happened in the middle of the day
with nothing unusual going on. From looking at the accounting logs (which are
incomplete because I have to reboot) it seems that sendmail has been active
just before each lockup. This may be coincidence since sendmail runs often.

The machine is a Pentium 90 with 32 MB of RAM and 3 Gbyte of HD. It't primary
functions are a WWW server (running NCSA httpd v1.3 for the first two crashes
and NCSA httpd v1.5 for the last crash), a mail host for about 50 people, and
it has a tape backup unit for backing up several servers using dump/rdump.
The machine is never heavily loaded (so far anyway).

Has anyone else seen similar lockups?

Any suggestions on how to track down what is crashing? (My accounting logs
are incomplete ...)

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

- Randy Moore
