My system is a : 486/120 with 40mb RAM, adaptec 2940 and Quantum GrandPrix 4 gig. It could be a motherboard problem. I've heard from a number of sources that 486/PCI boards tend to have an inordinate amount of problems. I haven't had any trouble on 486/80/100/120mhz boards using Buslogic 445 (VLB) scsi boards. Also, the 2940 is known to work well with FreeBSD (I believe that's what ftp.cdrom.com is using).
