Yes, I was using OS/2 Boot Manager with no problems (was because the motherboard is in the process of getting replaced right now so it's a little hard to read what's on the screen 8-) Seriously though, recalling the setup on that system, I have: 1st HD: OS/2 Boot Mgr. Partn. DOS 6.22/WFW (the rest) C:\ ==> WDAC2340 340MB IDE HD 2nd HD: DOS data area D:\ ==> WDAC31200 1.2GB EIDE HD - these are hooked up to a Promise 2300 VLB EIDE controller along with a TEAC Combo FD (3.5/5.25) 3rd HD: OS/2 Warp System area E:\ FreeBSD swap (either 64 or 128MB size) ==> Quantum 340MB SCSI HD 4th HD: OS/2 data area F:\ FreeBSD 2.0.5 System area / FreeBSD data area /usr ==> Quantum 1.8GB SCSI HD - these are connected to an Adaptec 2842VL SCSI controller along with a Colorado PowerDAT 2400 tape drive. I also have a Toshiba 3401 CD-ROM drive (G:\ or /cdrom?) hooked up to a SoundBlaster 16 SCSI-2. The only "experimentation" required to get this setup to work was to turn ON extended translation, since OS/2's FDISK utility didn't like partitioning with FreeBSD's "slicer" (this pertains only to the 1.8GB SCSI HD, the smaller one's visible geometry didn't change whether extended translation was on or off). This contrasted to FreeBSD 2.0R where I did have to turn translation OFF. I got that to work with OS/2 2.1 (as well as with the XR6000? Service Pack), but I also only had 3 HDs at the time (the 340MB IDE and the 2 SCSIs). At any rate, what I ultimately had to do was turn ON extended translation (which might be 255 cyl./64 heads, I can't recall offhand - anybody know for sure?), install OS/2 first (because Warp had this uncanny ability to just want the first partition on a HD for itself), then installed a more openminded ;-) FreeBSD. After that it was just a matter of pointing Boot Manager in the right direction for each OS area. When you first boot up FreeBSD (assuming you have 2.0.5) don't forget to put in a disk in the CD-ROM drive, otherwise it'll wait for one. Good luck! Ron Larson rlarso01@ic1d.harris.com
