The rumor(sic) :-) that I had heard is that MP is planned FreeBSD 2.4 or 2.5

Which is to say , "REAL SOON NOW, but don't hold you breath." :-)

There are preliminary version to be found on ftp.freebsd.org, You have to 
use the thread safe version of LIBC, for the NETBSD C Compiler.
