At the University of Maribor we have decided to put up NEWS, WWW, FTP and PPP server for the needs of our researchers, professors and students. As we have no experience on this ground (our intention is not causing a holly war), we are wery much interested in which operating system for this server would you recommend us. The server will be installed on Intel, therefore Linux, FreeBSD (NetBSD) or Unixware are possible to choose between them. We would like to know for your opinion and possible experiences on this problem, especially on operating systems limitations, such as how big system memory is (maximum addressable memory in operating system), what is maximum file system size (especially on usenet) supported by a certain system, what kind of servers you have (HW configuration) etc. Altough these questions refer to technical support we very much hope you'll answer them. The answers and suggestions can be sent into news group or on email address milan.lesnik@uni-mb.si. I assure you I will notify the abstracts in all groups where my basic mail was sent. Thanks in advance.
