Actually that's exactly how it works. It means that out there somewhere
there is software that is supposed to make that device work.

But all you bought was a CD. With the software on it. The CD manufacturer
makes no gurantees about the fitness of the software therein.

It's the major difference between buying commercial software and buying
a copy of free software that's been repackaged by an enterprising CD
manufacturer. All they did was do the FTP for you and pop it on a CD.
You paid for the transfer, not the software.

Max, classic question: if you don't like it why not do it better? The software
is all there. You can change, improve, modify, whatever. You may not know this
but that's how Slackware came into being. The king of the Linux hill at the
time, SLS, was perceived as bug ridden and the author mostly unresponsive.
So Patrick took it upon himself to patch the bugs and improve the installation
script. Slackware was born.

In the old software model, the manufacturer had all the control. All you could
do is plead and bitch. But here anyone who takes control can.

Lastly, we the community didn't take money from you. So we don't have to take
your abusive attitude and your excessive foul language.

In short, you have the power. Put up or Shut up.
