Version 1.0 is out, plus about 15 patches.  It appears to be working
fine on FreeBSD 2.1.  I had problems with it eating up all my swap 
space (64 meg) while constructing an rtree index, but I relinked with
the gnumalloc library and its memory usage has dropped notably.
