This is actually one of Compaqs proprietary little SCSI controllers -
supposed to be faster than greased lightning, and unfortunately a
popular component in Compaq systems since getting ahold of the specs is
apparently not a walk in the park.

However, it may not be all that bleak. The latest Slackware 3.0 CD
(which I'll be happy to send you if you don't have a copy, Julian)
contains this in its `live' filesystem directory:

/live/usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/qlogic.[ch]

The accompanying text says:

Qlogic linux driver - work in progress. No Warranty express or
implied.
Use at your own risk. Support Tort Reform so you won't have to read
all
   these silly disclaimers.

Additional Code, and much appreciated help by
   Michael A. Griffith
   grif@cs.ucr.edu

Thanks to Eric Youngdale and Dave Hinds for loadable module and
PCMCIA
help respectively, and for suffering through my foolishness during
the
   debugging process.

   Reference Qlogic FAS408 Technical Manual, 53408-510-00A, May 10, 1994
(you can reference it, but it is incomplete and inaccurate in places)

May be of help, may be not, but there you go!
