you didn't answer this, but I presume so..
If this comes up that inticates that the 2nd step bootstrap has loaded and run,
which indicates that the fdisk and disklabel partitioning is basically
correct.. (bummer.. that's easy to fix :)

:
:	The act same thing is happening to me on my system! I've tried a
:zillion things and it still doesn't work! I'm using a
:EIDE2300 Plus VLB I/O Card.
:Maxtor 7540AV EIDE 540 mb Drive
:Dx2-80 system.

ok, have you set your BIOS to have 1023,16,63 as well?
that's kinda important.... (not the 1023, but the rest is..)

:

Ok

:figures below won't work with bios for partitions not in cylinder 1
:parameters to be used for Bios Calculations are
:Cylinders =1046 heads=16 sector/track=63 (1008 blks/cyl)
:sysid 165 ,(freeBsd/netbsd/386bsd)
:start 63 size 1054305 (514 megs),flag 80
:beg cyl 0 /sec1/head1
:end:cyl 1023/sec 63 head 15

looks good

:
:Disklabed wd0 gives (approximately):
:
:#	size	offset	fstype	[fsize	bsize	bps/cpg]
:a:	65536	0	4.2bsd	0	0	0	#cyl(0-65*)
:b:	88256	65536	swap #cyl(65*-152*)
:c:	1054305	0	unused	0	0 #cyl(0-1045*)
:e:	61440	153792	4.2bsd	0	0	0	#cyl(152*-213*)
:f:	839073	215232	4.2bsd	0	0	0	#cyl(213*-1045)

looks good
my First guess is that the BIOS figures for that drive are not 16/63

I presume that when you boot the fixit, you can fsck the disk partitions
just fine..
