$ I was wondering if anyone has any docs or knows of where they are, relating to
$ the tcp_extensions set in sysconfig. I just disabled them on my box to enable
$ me to connect to another machine with them disabled altho I have no problems
$ myself normally - only when connecting to this particular machine ( 2.0.5->2.0.5)

read rfc1644 for transactional/tcp, rfc1323 for time-stamping. there's also
a man page for ttcp(4) in -current (probably in 2.1 also).

$ Do these extensions cause problems over ethernetted connections or only ppp/slip
$ ones ? what is the 'loosing hardware' mentioned ?

i have problems connecting from my home machine to my work one (both running
-current). it's either ij-ppp or the terminal server that's behind the
problem...haven't figured out which one yet.

i have had no problems with connecting between two machines over ethernet
when both are running tcp extensions.
