yes, the Booteazy program has a dos installer as well
(I've never tried installing it from the running unix)

no, it overwrites block0, the MBR
it is an alternate MBR/bootblock
(the installer copies the old table into the new bootblock however..)
the sequence of event in your case should be:
Bios loads disk0 blk0 and jumps to it.. (times out if you do nix)
that puts up small menu and loads disk1 block 0 (times out if you do nix)
that puts up a small menu and loads disk1:BSD-part: block0
that loads disk1:BSD-part: blocks 1-15
that puts up the Boot: prompt and askes for a kernel name then loads it
That is the kernel.. you're in unix
