I recently was using vi to edit a few documents and had a little suprise... I was pasting across documents (or was about to). Got into the first file and yanked the buffer with the following commands: "f15yy Then I entered the following to get into the new file: :e file2.doc When the new file was entered, I typed the following (after positionaing my cursor: "fp Well, in response to this, I received a message similar to the following: "Error in opening temp buffer for pasting" Am I following an incorrect procedure or is vi broken? I changed the write and read permissions in the /tmp directory thinking that maybe vi used /tmp as a "clipboard" area but to no avail... Do I have to get the source and recompile it? Appreciate any suggestions. Kolin +===========================================================================+ + "Guilt Trip: The nuclear weapon of relationships." -- K.
