Hubbard" <jkh@FreeBSD.org> Cc: wilker Several attempts at an install have failed, all with a failure to reboot after download 100's of megabytes. The partition is there, and when I mount it with the fixit disk, there is a kernel in the root directory. Following the alternate screen shows no error messages at any stage of installation. When I try to boot using the booteasy bootmanager, it will give me the same lines as the boot floppy, but then hangs with a single "|". It lists the default boot line as "wd(1,a)/kernel" . Details: 100mhzDX4, VLB Promise 2300 IDE controller Trying to set up a second drive ( MAxtor 546 ). I overrode the autodetected disk params to be 1023/16/63 in the CMOS set up, and in the disk geometry part of the partition program. Thanks for any help. I'm getting frustrated. -- Clarence Wilkerson \ HomePage: http://www.math.purdue.edu/~wilker Prof. of Math.
