I've never found the Linux directory structure to be
any more or less confusing than that under FreeBSD.

In fact in my experience almost all these postings
that "Linux is much better than FreeBSD at ..."
and "FreeBSD is much better than Linux at ..."
are complete speculation by people 
who are only running one system or the other.
