I have both FreeBSD and Linux installation on my hard drive. In the mean time I will use Microsoft apps. FreeBSD wont recognize my CD ROM and Linux gives me grief over the boot directory being read only or read write. I want to increase my marketability by knowing a flavor of UNIX, but what I really want to know is: With enough work can you stop being dependent on Microsoft and get comparable apps for Linux?
