At a previous position, I had done this on the following platform: hardware: i486/66 + 32 megs of RAM Linux GN-2.22 freeWAIS-0.5 Perl-5.001 In my current situation I have to implement the same on a MacIIci. I know next to nothing about Macs, other than that this Mac has a 25 Mhz 68030, 20 megs of RAM, an ethernet card that I hope is 8390 based - but if it isn't an appropriate one can be procured. I was planning to download NetBSD-1.1 and try to munge my way through this. But I think that I need some learned advice first on the following: a) I just came across something called Professional MachTen from Tenon Intersystems. Would this better suit my needs? Does anyone have a number/e-mail address for Tenon Intersystems? Is MachTen related to NetBSD/Mac68k? b) Will either NetBSD/mac68K-1.1 or MachTen(or A/UX) allow me to run the combination of GN + freeWAIS? I have a number of Perl CGI scripts that I had written for the Linux box and I would like to be able to reuse those as well. I will be very grateful to any and all kind souls who help the misguided fool who has posted this. Thank you! Ashok -- Ashok Aiyar http://biocserver.bioc.cwru.edu/pp/aiyar/aiyar.html
