I also tried booting with 16mb RAM, thinking that the Adaptec's bounce buffers might be a source of problems... no joy... I'd appreciate any insight regarding the nature of the problem so I can get on with my FTP install. :) 2.0.5R booted and ran nicely on exactly the same hardware.
