Does anyone have information on how to get the )Intel cards at the promotional price? If you trust PCmag, the Intel Pro 100 supposedly does better than the SMC in both "client" and "server" roles. The added concern in the "server" role was the % CPU utilization. SMC is a pretty good card and did well. But the Intel did better. And the price of the Intel is somewhat cheaper and now with the $49 promo, it seems like the way to go. You call Intel at 800-538-3373 ext 453, ask for the promo, answer a bunch of question that make you sound like 1) you are an important person in a company that has a lot of networked PC's, 2) you might, if suitably impressed, buy a bunch of Intel cards someday in the future. There is a limit to two Pro-100's at $49/each. And delivery may be slow (4weeks?). BTW in the same PCmag review, the 3COM board, although had the highest throughput (slightly higher than the Intel), had a terrible %CPU utilization (at times greater than 90%!, the highest for the Intel was 36%).
