Hello there !

Is someone working on the port of gcc 2.7.2 to FreeBSD ?

I tried to get it running but had a lot of problems:
	1) gcc-2.7.2 cannot re-compile the kernel, it fails on some inline statements.
	2) g++-2.7.2 generates some ".weak" directives in the assembly files
which are not recognized by the current assembler (version -- GNU assembler
version 1.92.3, FreeBSD $Revision: 1.4 $) that comes with 2.1-RELEASE.

I would like to use the C++ compiler contained in gcc-2.7.2 because this
release include some nice exception-handling stuff (which is now available on
i386 architectures).

Then I tried to compile the binutils-2.6 from GNU but they do not support the
i386-*-freebsd entirely.

If anybody knows how to get these things running okay, please let me know
(E-mail prefered <caussep@sphynx.fdn.fr>).

Cheers,
Philippe.
